Fall Color Cruise and Mill City Museum
Friday, October 11
Enjoy a fall color cruise down the Mississippi River on the Minneapolis Queen. An assortment of sandwiches, served with coleslaw, fresh fruit, potato chips, pickles along with an assortment of cookies and bars is served on board this 1.5 hour cruise.
Immediately following the cruise we head down the road for a guided tour of the Mill City Museum. Here we will climb aboard their giant elevator to travel through eight levels of the building and back through time, as you experience the sights and sounds of the workers and machines that made Minneapolis the flour milling capital of the world. Glimpse scenes of the old mill while the voices of the former workers share their stories and carry you through life at the Washburn A Mill. There will be time to get out your camera and enjoy the panoramic view of the Mississippi River, St. Anthony Falls, and the Ruin Courtyard from the museum's Koch Rooftop Observation Deck. The bird's-eye view of the historic Stone Arch Bridge, Mill Ruins Park, and the emerging urban landscape of new and renovated buildings makes this a favorite spot for photographers.
And whether you’re looking for a souvenir for yourself or a unique gift for someone else, the Mill City Museum store is a don’t-miss destination. There will be time to shop where you will find prints, history books, locally made treats, jewelry, and even collectibles featuring the Pillsbury Doughboy and Betty Crocker. Cooking enthusiasts will love the huge selection of cookbooks, kitchen gadgets, and aprons.
